Pregnancy first this week: I've been feeling bubbles and little shocks. I'm not sure if it the baby yet but I think it might be.

My Pregnancy Brain: It been pretty hard for me to remember that I'm pregnant so moving into the new house has been interesting i catch myself doing stuff and shorting after realizing oops i shouldn't have done that, I mean its nothing too crazy, but still something i should have had some else do.

Pregnancy Prep: Starting to get stuff from family that is letting me borrow or giving me stuff. Its weird to have baby stuff in the house.

Dr Visits:None this week.

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: Is about the size of a baked potato, Head to rump, about 5 1/2 inches long and she weighs almost 7 ounces. Has actual cute little ears and working ear bones and can hear sounds through the amniotic fluid, similar to how things sound to you underwater.

It's a....wait for it.....GIRL!!!!

Waist Measurements: 34.5" at the belly button

Weigh in: 125lbs according to the Dr.

Pregnancy Symptoms this Week:
  • Forgetfulness
  • Moody
  • Emotional
  • Back pain
Pregnancy first this week: Excruciating back pain, don't know what happened but it sent me to the ER, they checked the baby to make sure it wasn't preterm labor and once they cleared the baby they sent me on my ways...guess its no longer about me huh. They blamed it on the pregnancy so all I can do is rest my back.

My Pregnancy Brain: It was an interesting week. The level of fear i had when i called the on call nurse and they told me to go into the ER to make sure the baby was ok was intense. I guess its just a taste of things to come.

Pregnancy Prep: I went to a boutique in Fullerton that sells cloth diaper and got to play around with them.

Dr Visits: I had two this week. A planned one and an impromptu one last night.

Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as she continues develop.

Waterworks, tomatoes and annoying lights!

Waist Measurements: 34.5" at belly button

Weigh in: 122lbs according to the Dr.

Pregnancy Symptoms this Week:
  • Forgetfulness
  • Moody
  • Emotional
Pregnancy first this week: I'm really losing my mind! I was on the verge of tears this week because we ran out of Doritos at work and I Needed some for my sandwich. I think I cried a total of 3 times this week for no good reason...

My Pregnancy Brain: I've been too preoccupied trying to get escrow to close so I can start decorating the room :)

Pregnancy Prep:
I'm researching the idea of cloth diapering and so far I'm all for it and Paul like the idea too. I want to buy one soon so I can start playing around with it.

Dr Visits: I thought I was getting a UTI so I played it safe and went in; everything was good, no signs of infections and I got to hear the heart beat. Life is good.

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: Is as big as a beefsteak tomato! Measures about 4 Inches and weights about 2 1/2 ounces. S/he has started "breathing" amniotic fluid in through its nose and respiratory tract, giving those lungs some very early practice for the real thing. Can sense light and pressure from outside of the womb, yet another way to start annoying our child, and lastly the legs are growing longer than the arms now, and can move all joints and limbs.

I'm losing my mind!

Waist Measurements: 35" at belly button

Weigh In: 120lbs according to the wii

Pregnancy Symptoms this:
  • Head Ache (ouch)
  • Forgetfulness
  • Moody
  • Appetite for carbs
Pregnancy first this week: I'm losing my mind! This week I wore two watches at once one day and then another day I talked to Paul on the phone and then scolded him the next day for not calling, granted it was midnight when he called and I was sleeping, but still. Oh yeah someone touched my belly for the first time this week. Lucky it wasn't a complete stranger so I didn't feel the urge to punch them in the face. I feel bad for the first stranger who things it's ok for them to touch me, they are in for a rude awakening.

My Pregnancy Brain: Its really nice to be able to hear the heart beat whenever I want. I can't wait till we find out gender, it really helps re assure that I'm really pregnant and not just growing a gut. Also this week I've had a few nightmares where I'm 7ish months pregnant and I get into a car accident. Its weird, now I'm no longer worried about my safety but the life that I'm carrying. I might just be cut out to be a mother! :0)

Pregnancy Prep: Nothing

Dr Visits: Nope

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: Is about the size of a peach. From head to bottom measure about 3 1/2 inches. Has a strong, whoosh-whooshy heartbeat See below :). Our baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! The kidneys are producing urine, which s/he releases into the amniotic fluid around him. The liver starts making bile this week and the spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells.

I've popped out....kinda

Waist Measurements: 35" at belly button

Weigh In: 123lbs

Pregnancy Symptoms this:
  • Slight Heartburn
  • Can't go poopy :(
  • Still not hungry...
Pregnancy first this week: The whole not pooping thing is new :( I don't like it at all. Oh yeah so this week I tried a new pack of the sample vitamins my dr. gave me and oh boy did I regret it. It had some sort of fish oil or something...any who 2 min after I took the vitamin I could not stop burping and everytime I burped it tasted like rotten fish therefor making me gag. I spent the next 30 min trying to find something to eat that would cover up the fish...Not an easy task.

My Pregnancy Brain: Finally starting to feel a little pregnant, with the belly popping out, barely but I can tell and the nasty vitamins.

Pregnancy Prep: Nothing, just tried to have a well deserved relaxing week...

Dr Visits: Nope

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: Is about three inches long, the size of a jumbo shrimp. Has his or her own unique fingerprints already.

Sweet! I'm already annoying our baby!

Waist Measurements: 34" at belly button

Weigh In: 123lbs

Pregnancy Symptoms this:
  • Weird food...snack, cravings
  • Still not hungry...
Pregnancy first this week: I have been eating the most random things this week, one day I had Hot tamales, sunflower seed and teddy grams all in one sitting. Still no food aversions. I am very thankful for the ease, so far, of this pregnancy.

My Pregnancy Brain: Still not really felling pregnant. I hope I start showing soon, its going to be so much fun.

Pregnancy Prep: I picked the colors for the baby room :)

Dr Visits: Nope

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: S/he is about two-and-a-half inches long. Already has pretty much every structure, organ and system needed for life, s/he is a perfect little miniature human being. One thing I love is s/he can officially be Bugged By Me. Reflexes have developed, so if I push on my uterus, s/he will squirm and move in response. I love this quote for Alpha mom "you can't feel it, but it sure is fun to imagine getting flipped off by your fetus."

Scary Week

Waist Measurements: 34" at belly button

Weigh In: 122lbs

Pregnancy Symptoms this:
  • Sciatic Nerve Pain...ouch
  • Never Hungry...hence the weight loss
Pregnancy first this week: Paul finally got to see the baby :) He cried when he saw the heart beat. I'm sure the build up to it helped...not finding a heart beat. She tried for about 5 min...felt like 20...she couldn't find a heart beat, the baby is really low. She decided to play it safe and do an ultrasound. As soon as she put the transponder down we saw the heart beat ***sigh***. Oh yeah, the Dr. told me to lay off the prenatal vitamins they are taking away my appetite.

My Pregnancy Brain: Still not really felling pregnant. Seeing the baby today was really reassuring

Pregnancy Prep: Still nothing...

Dr Visits: Had one today! :) I love the Midwife's I chose!

Graduation Week!

Waist Measurements: 33" at belly button

Weigh In: 123lbs according to the wii.

Pregnancy Symptoms this:
  • Irritable...I need to be careful or I might end up a single mom...lol
  • make the tiredness go away
  • back pain
What I Learned: How easy it is to cry when your pregnant....over anything.

Pregnancy first this week: The back pain.. it sucks, its a sharp shooting pain down my lower back.

My Pregnancy Brain: Because I really don't have many pregnancy symptoms, I've had my episodes of doubt. Am I really pregnant? I almost re-took a pregnancy test...but I didn't . I can't wait till next monday when I get to hear the heart beat.

Pregnancy Prep: Still nothing...

Dr Visits: None this week.

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: S/he is officially a fetus by the end of this week. S/he over an inch long, and has a heartbeat strong enough to be heard with a Doppler.
Most importantly the most delicate and critical development period is over. I can breathe a sigh of relief over that.

No More Tail!

Waist Measurements: 33" at belly button (looks like it was just a gas and food baby :))

Weigh In: 123lbs according to the wii. (again I'm not bloated anymore, so that helps)

Pregnancy Symptoms this:
  • Cold :( it sucks cause I cant take anything for it.
  • Irritable...Paul's loving it lol
  • The tiredness continues
  • Certain food smells make me nauseous
What I Learned: It really sucks to be sick while pregnant.

Pregnancy first this week: Other than my first cold while pregnant nothing too exciting happened.

My Pregnancy Brain: Its been a little scary being sick seeing that a fever could cause severe damage to the baby. Luckily I haven't noticed a fever yet but I'm definitely on the look out just in case I need to take some children's tylenol.

Pregnancy Prep: Still nothing. Soon I hope.

Dr Visits: None this week, we have one the monday after the wedding where we get to listen to the heart beat...I can't wait.

Belly Shot:What the baby looks like this week: The baby is about the size of a grape this week. S/He has fingers and toes and eyelids and ears. External boy and girl-parts are present, but won't be really distinguishable for another couple of weeks...Bummer. It's heart has finished dividing into four chambers, and the valves are starting to form. Oh yeah the embryonic "tail" is completely gone.

8 weeks 1 Day!

Waist Measurements: 35" at belly button (don't know if I ate too much today or if its actually the baby)

Weigh In: 127lbs according to the Dr.

Pregnancy Symptoms this week:
  • Irritable
  • Still freaken tired
  • Slight Nausea (still not to bad...knock on wood)
What I Learned: Dr. appointments take a really long time, and I have to go every month.

Pregnancy first this week: I had my first ultrasound this week, it was amazing. I wish paul could have been there but I didn't even know I was going to have an ultrasound. It was a pleasant surprise. Oh yeah I told my boss this week.

My Pregnancy Brain: I saw our baby's heart beat this week! WOW! It was the most amazing thing ever! It finally felt real, but only for a few hours, I can't wait till I feel the first kick.

Pregnancy Prep: Absolutely nothing, maybe once the wedding is over.

Dr Visits: I saw the second contender to be my Dr. this week, I made my decision; I'm going with the midwife. It's definitely more what I want, I felt like it was more about me and the baby than how quick can they be home on D-Day. I'm glad that is over with.

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: Aww... first baby picture! and a picture I found of the size of the baby.

Rewind one week

Waist Measurements: 34" at belly button

Weigh In: 126lbs according to the Dr.

Pregnancy Symptoms this week:
  • Irritable
  • Really really really tired (Zzzzzzzz)
  • By the way did I say tired
  • Still Gassy
  • Slight Nausea (not to bad so far...knock on wood)
  • Incredible sensitive to smells
What I Learned: Im actually 7 weeks 2 days today!

Pregnancy first this week: I had a freak out this week. On monday night I had a fever, at first I didn't thing too much about it until I didn't have any other cold symptoms to follow. My mom convinced me to call the Dr., sure enough they had me go in to make sure I didn't have an infection. Luckily everything came back good and I even got an official blood test to prove that I'm really pregnant. And seeing that my levels were a 19000, 5 or below is not pregnant, I guess it confirmed the pregnancy. Oh yeah we finally told Paul's family this week :) everyone seemed happy!

My Pregnancy Brain: After the freak out I really started to think about how much my life has already changed and the baby isn't even here. I'm now living for 2...

Pregnancy Prep: Just looking for houses, buts thats not really pregnancy prep, that life prep.

Dr Visits: Yep had one this week. Nothing too exciting we went over family history and talked about how the next nine months will go. I also had a bunch of blood work done too. I have one more appointment next week then I'll pick my final Dr., I think this was the one though.

Belly Shot: still just my gut

What the baby looks like this week: refer to last week :)

Sunday, January 11, 2009

S/He has a two-chambered heart, lungs, and cerebral hemispheres.

Not too much happened this week, other than I told a couple more family members and we are still trying to figure out a date to get together with Paul's parents. I'm sure it will be soon.

I find this pregnancy thing to be very exhausting. I'm already an early sleeper but 8:30 is even early for me, but hey that's when I crash so thats when i'll sleep.

Waist Measurements: 33 inches at the belly button
Weight in: 125lbs according to my Wii (I usually weigh myself at the gym)
Pregnancy Symptoms this week:
  • crampy (but not as much as last week)
  • irritable
  • really really tired
  • gassy (tmi...I know)
  • bathroom often
What I learned: Disneyland isn't as fun when you cant get on the rides...but its still lots of fun.

Pregnancy first this week: I had a couple of food aversions earlier this week...they smelled funny to me, which is weird for me because I'm a food junkie.

My Pregnancy Brain: Fear has been a big part of my thoughts, lots of what if's. I really just want a healthy baby and want to make sure I do everything in my power to make sure that happens

Pregnancy preparation: nothing yet, don't want to jinx anything plus it's way to early and we have no place to store things

Dr. Visits: I made another Dr. appointment this week with a Nurse Midwife, hopefully one of the two, Dr. vs. midwife, will work out with my birthing plan. I have an appointment this Friday and one next friday. :)

Belly Shot: Most of this is just my Gut :/

What the baby looks like this week: Baby has doubled in size since last week. S/He is staring to develop arms and legs and is about the size of a blueberry. Also, see title for additional milestones.

"Week 6" I Think might be 5 we'll find out on the 23rd

This has been a really good week. I've started telling all my close friends and my mom and dad. I'm not sure yet when we're telling Paul's Parents but I'm sure it will be soon. We're really excited about the months to come.

Let us make pregnancy an occasion when we appreciate our female bodies.
~Merete Leonhardt-Lupa

Waist Measurements: 33 inches at belly button

Weigh-in: 126lbs

Pregnancy Symptoms this week:
  • Bathroom often (especially at night)
  • Crampy
  • Really tired
  • Moody as hell

What I learned: I can still work out just not as aggressively and have to keep my HR below 140bpm, which I found interesting

Pregnancy "first" this week: Called my Dr. to schedule our first appointment, and told my parents about the pregnancy :) they were very excited

My Pregnancy Brain: I'm a little freaked out that 9 months from now I'm going to be responsible to a life.

Pregnancy Preparation: None yet! Just excited to be pregnant! Although if it was up to me I would have the whole nursery set up!

Dr. Visits: Not yet! I don't understand why they make you wait so long! Don't they understand I'm pregnant???

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like: Our baby is about the size of a lentil bean. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as ours — and blood is beginning to course through its body
