Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: It's hard to say for sure how big she is, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds and is about 20 inches long.

At birth your baby has a total of 300 bones. Some of the bones will fuse together later, which is why an adult has only 206 bones. Fascinating, no?

Pregnancy first this week: I went to walmart, I know I should know better, and an older women walked up to me and as serious as can be said "you know your going to have a baby" NO S*** Sherlock!

Pregnancy Prep: I've worked on a few projects I just haven't taken any pictures. :) I'll take some soon. Plus the Nursery is 98% done :)

Dr Visits: Nothing new to report! Same news. I've asked to not be checked for dilation and effacement! I figure as soon as she wants to come into this world she will and there is not need to get my hopes up or down know where everything is at.

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: Is about 20 inches long and over seven pounds, maybe, depends, who knows. The lanugo that used to cover her body has mostly disappeared, but we may find a bit leftover on the shoulders, forehead and neck, we'll see. Because there is no air around your baby, when she practices breathing, it can cause amniotic fluid to get into her windpipe, resulting in those regularly spaced thumps that make you think you're carrying a jumping bean in your belly.

Week 38: Tic Toc Tic Toc

My Pregnancy Brain: Rant: I really hate how everyone has an opinion about everything, especially strangers. This is Our Child and therefor we make ALL the decisions.

So that is my rant for the week :)

After much discussion Paul and I have decided a few thing, we hope that no one will be offended when we ask for privacy or bonding time, especially the first few weeks. We are going to be tired and adjusting to our new life and don't want to deal with entertaining company. We ask that all visitors please call before coming over and please do not be offended if we are not taking guests, its not personal. This will be a very important and stressful time in our new family and want to spend as much of it bonding and figuring out our new life. Now this does not mean no guests at all we just cant guarantee we will want people over at all times, this is why we ask for everyone to call, if not you might be greeted to a sign on the door. I hope everyone will understand and we cant wait to introduce Katelyn to everyone!

Pregnancy Prep:

What the baby looks like this week: She has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long. She has a firm grasp, her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Week 37: First Week Home

Pregnancy first this week: Wooo Hooo no more feet swelling!

Pregnancy Prep: I finished a few projects

Dr Visits: Yep I'll have one every week from now on. I got my group B strep results today! came back negative!!! Woo Hoooo! No IV for me!

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: At this point babies vary in size, but the average length is between 19 and 20 inches and most babies weigh approximately 6 pounds. Baby's growth slows down dramatically this week.

Week 36: Last week of work

Pregnancy first this week: The heartburn is really starting to clam down which from what I have read means that she has started to drop, which would also explain the new pressure I'm feeling.

Pregnancy Prep: Nothing this week. Once i'm off work next week i have a huge list of projects to work on.

Dr Visits: yep we are going weekly after this one.

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. Her size will start displacing amniotic fluid over the final few weeks. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. She swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

Even in the womb, your baby can listen, feel, touch and see. Other highlights this week: Her gums are firm with ridges that look somewhat like teeth, though his actual pearly whites won't start breaking through until he's between three months and a year old. Your baby has definite patterns of sleep and wakefulness—opening his eyes while awake and closing them while sleeping.

Week 35

Pregnancy Prep: We met with our Doula this week. I'm so excited she seems like such a perfect fit!

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: She is now about 5½ pounds and over 18 inches long—about the size of one of those price-club sheet cakes. Because it's so snug in my womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Week 34: Starting the nursery

Pregnancy first this week: My first pregnancy stretch mark! :( Guess it really is hereditary cause I tried everything to avoid them! Oh Well! A few battle wounds never hurt any one. Also let this be a lesson to girls wanting to get their belly button pierced. It's not pretty with a big belly...
My Pregnancy Brain: Now that the nursery is started its really staring to hit me that we are going to have a baby very soon. I cant wait to hold her!

Pregnancy Prep: It's not done yet but at least its started!

Dr Visits: every thing looks good, baby is still head down and her heart beat is great. BP is looking good and no protein in my urine. Life is good! I also got my maternity leave worked out. It looks like my last day to work is August 7th. Holy Smokes that's in 2 weeks!!!!

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: She now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well.

She is begining to develop her own immune system, instead of relying solely on antibodies received through the placenta.

Week 33: Baby Shower Week

Pregnancy Prep: We had the baby shower this weekend! we got so much awesome stuff! cant wait to put it all together in the baby's room. Plus it was sooo much fun! My sister did a great job putting it together.

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: This week your she weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. She's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal

Kicks and movements are practically visible from space now. The big news this week is lung development—baby's respiratory system is almost completely mature. That means if your baby was born this week, odds are he'd be a healthy bouncing baby with a just a little help from his friends (aka, the NICU). Some of the specifics are: Your baby can now detect light and tell the difference between night and day. Her pupils will constrict and dilate in response to light.

32 Weeks

Pregnancy first this week: This week has been the first week where it has been difficult to sleep. I'm still getting plenty of it its just not as comfortable and I'm getting up 5-7 times a night. I guess its good practice.

My Pregnancy Brain: I cant wait to hold her and see who she looks like and whose personality she is going to have! I cant believe she could be here in 6-10 weeks! Time is flying by!

Dr Visits: Nothing too exciting, My midwife says everything looks great!

Belly Shot:
What the baby looks like this week: By now, she weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

31 Weeks: 8th Month!

Pregnancy first this week: the joint pain has been a little weird but i think its because i did a lot of gardening and gave Paul a really long massage after he roter tiller'd the back yard.

My Pregnancy Brain: Fear has set in! Well kinda, I'm just sacred of not being able to raise my daughter to be a good citizen.

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: She weighs about 3½ pounds and measures a little over 16 inches. From this week on, she will continue to gain around ½ pound a week until shortly before birth. She can now process information from all five senses. By now, your baby's lungs are the only system not fully mature. She can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin.

WEEK 30!!!!!

Pregnancy first this week: I can actually feel body parts moving now not just kicks and punches! Its the weirdest and coolest thing in the world. It really feels like there is an alien growing in by belly.

My Pregnancy Brain: Its really starting to hit me that in 8-12 weeks we're going to have a baby! Holy Crap!!!!!! I need to get working on the baby's room.

Dr Visits: Had one this week, nothing special the usual again except now they get to see me every other week rather than once a month.

Belly Shot:

What the baby looks like this week: She is about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds. A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in my uterus. Is starting to get a little crowded in there, but still has room to wiggle and roll and punch and kick.

Big news for baby's brain this week: It's starting to to form Gyri and Sulci! This is due to the rapid growth of her little genius's brain cells. Other highlights this week: Fingernails and toenails are finally finished, Plus, the bone marrow is completely in charge of red-blood-cell production now.
